Worth the Wait?

Why You Should Try Slow Design

Ever moved into a place brimming with potential, knowing it's not quite 'you' yet, but with the right touch, it could be stunning? There's a thrill in transforming a new space, isn't there?

But let's face it, moving and redesigning can hit the wallet hard. Often, those grand decor dreams we envision need to take a backseat while we replenish our bank account.

But here's the thing-

Having to take it slow with your home's makeover can actually be a blessing in disguise.

Rushing into major changes can be tempting, but there's wisdom in taking time to understand your new home. Just like getting acquainted with a new city, learning your home's quirks – its seasonal moods, the cozy spots, the way morning light dances in your bedroom – is invaluable.

Why? Because these little details tell the story of your home, guiding you to make informed, personalized design choices.

Need blackout shades in the bedroom for bright mornings? A strategically placed mirror in a dim room? A comfy bench with tough wearing fabric under the window for your sun-loving pet? Understanding your space ensures your design is not just beautiful, but also works for the way you live.

More than that, it allows you to dream big!

Instead of hurriedly filling rooms with 'just okay' items, you can thoughtfully curate pieces that resonate with your style and story. And hey, if you're not moving but itching for a change, this slow design philosophy still makes sense.

It removes any rush to hit a 'perfect' home goal. Good and meaningful design is a journey, not a destination.

The road to creating your beautiful home should be fun with exciting twists and turns and discoveries along the way!  An adventure, if you will, for decor that makes your home come alive and makes you excited to be there.

So, there's no need to dash to Ikea or Pottery Barn for an instant home makeover. Take a more leisurely approach to discover pieces that truly resonate with you. Treat it like a treasure hunt, seeking out unique items that will transform your space into a home that feels distinctly yours.

In the meantime, try some of these simple things to improve your space until you’re ready to take the design plunge:

  • Open up your window treatments: Sounds basic, but you’d be surprised how many people don’t do this. Let that glorious natural light in when you wake up in the morning! It instantly lifts the space, making it feel larger and more welcoming. Concerned about privacy? Sheer curtains or light-filtering shades are your friends.

  • Clean your windows: Speaking of light…It's amazing what clean windows can do. Honestly, it’s hard to have a space that looks elevated and put together with dirty windows. They brighten your space and bonus: are a treat for your indoor plants too.

  • Rearrange your furniture : Take this time to experiment and find your perfect layout. While you’re saving up for your new furniture pieces, play around and see what works and what doesn’t. You’ll refresh your space and discover new potential you didn’t realize it had.

  • Shop your home: Moving decor, art, or furniture from one room to another can give them a new lease on life and change the dynamics of a space. It's like a treasure hunt in your own home! A mirror that didn’t quite work in the living room may be a homerun in your bedroom. And even if it’s not perfect, switching things up actually helps to build your design muscle- the more you play, the more you learn!

  • Tidy and declutter: A neat, organized space feels more peaceful, spacious, and elevated. This is not about being perfect all the time (you’re human!) and you absolutely do not have to be a minimalist- but periodic decluttering and organizing can have a surprising impact on the overall look and feel of your home.
